About Fento
Fento is more than a clothing brand: It’s a movement. Born on Vancouver Island and rooted in Galician heritage, we craft timeless, sustainable fashion for women embracing their most powerful stage: midlife.
Our designs honor natural beauty, sensuality, and ease, free from fleeting trends. We partner exclusively with ethical, women-led manufacturers who uplift their communities, ensuring every garment embodies dignity and respect. At Fento, we believe that dressing with purpose empowers us to shape a better world.
I am Uxía B. Alonso—a mother, a woman of Celtic heritage, and a relentless advocate for intentional living. After two decades in the fashion industry, I witnessed firsthand its environmental degradation, worker exploitation, and rampant overconsumption. In 2012, I chose a different path, embracing slow living, yoga, and motherhood. Fento is my rebellion against fast fashion. A brand born from my grandfather’s legacy in Galicia and nurtured on Vancouver Island. We craft timeless, sustainable pieces that honor the artisans, cherish our planet, and empower women to wear their values boldly, trying to make it accesible for more women.
Fento is more than fashion; it’s a feminist movement towards conscious living and a sustainable future.
Thank you for supporting us.
Fento
Fento means ‘fern’ in Galician. A plant of quiet strength, regeneration, and ancient memory. Ferns thrive in the forests of both Galicia and Vancouver Island, two distant lands connected not only by climate and lush green landscapes, but by something deeper: echoes of Celtic spirit, reverence for the Earth, and the resilience of their people.
These are my homelands, and Fento is born between them.
The fern, like the women I create for, grows in the shadows, unfolds in its own time, and carries the wisdom of cycles. It is a symbol of softness with power, of what endures when we slow down and live with care. Fento is woven from this spirit. From feminism, sustainability, and a longing to leave a better world for our children. Every thread carries the hope of change, and the belief that fashion can be a force for healing.
